Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to the third edition of the Umbrian Mug. If you know of a Duchy member who isn't getting the Umbrian Mug via mail or by picking up a copy personally at Fighter Practice, please let me know so that I can rectify that situation.

War & Tourney Reports!

The Canton Tourney was held on the 4th of March.  Unfortunately, due to the excitement of the Tourney, your humble editor forgot to keep a written record of the results.  The only results I can safely report with confidence was that 1) Duncan Wallace won the Sergeant's Shinai List, 2) I, Sire Squire James the Red, won the Knight's Renn List, and 3) Countess Dame Delia von Berg was the only Arts entry.  My apologies to all, this is not meant as a slight to any of the other participants.  I will report on this Tourney fully in the NEXT issue of the Mug, in addition to reporting on April's Canton Tourney.  SORRY!

The Ducal Tourney was held on the 21st of March. A fine time was had by all who attended and stayed through the rounds of combat and arts.

We had a rather large turnout, due in part to the formation of the newest Estate in Umbria, the March of the Full Moon. The Marquessa Lady Francesca Kilshannig and Marquis Lord Sir Cedrik Kilshannig were presented to His Royal Grace the Duke Sir Iain Duncan Mackintosh, in a ceremony that ended in HRG laying the Black and Gold chains of Estate upon the Marquis's and Marquessa's persons.

The March is formed from the County of Dragonstar, the Barony of the Red Wyvern, Barony Thundercloud, House of the Winged Dragons, House Fallingstar, House of the Emerald Shield, House of the Golden Hammer, and the House of the Silver Dagger. We congratulate the members of the new March!  Additionally, Keara Craig, Cardano, Drake Lytle, and Caitlan McDaniel joined the March as it's first Free Members.  Huzzah!  Brian Smith, and James and Linda Wintermute were sworn into the County of Dragonstar by Count Roland of the Icelands.

Then the Tourney began, with Sire Squire James the Red attempting to run the Combat Lists, and Sir Duriel Caliban von Hansard running the Arts List.

For Combat, we had all four disciplines of combat represented: Sergeants Shinai, Sergeants Renn, Knights Renn, and Knights Steel. The battles, when the fray commenced, were fierce and fine, with Tourney wins going to Drake Lytle (Sgts Shinai), Brian Smith (Sgts Renn), Sir Tremain (Knights Renn), and Count Roland (Knights Steel). Of great importance, the Count's win completed the requirements to receive his Knighthood. He was field-Knighted that very day! HUZZAH!

For the Arts, Lady Diana Kilshannig MacDonald Lockerby won with her entry of crafted tunic. This win enable her to achieve Knighthood also, and she too was Knighted that very day on the field. HUZZAH!

Count Sir Fredrick von Berg, for his recent Knighting.  Count Sir Fredrick has attained the status of Knight Champion (3rd Level Knight Combatant).  We congratulate him on this fine accomplishment.

Countess Dame Delia von Berg, for her recent Knighting at a Joint Adrian-ECS event.  Countess Dame Delia has attained the status of Knight Doctor (2nd Level Knight in the Arts).  We congratulate her on this difficult accomplishment.

Count Sir Roland of the Icelands, for his recent Knighting at the Ducal Tourney.  With his final Knight's Steel win, Sir Roland (Knight Bachelor) has earned enough points for his Knighthood.  Sir Roland is one of Adria and Umbria's newest Baby Knights!

Baroness Lady Dame Diana Lockerby, for her recent Knighting. With her final Arts win, she amassed enough points for her Knighthood.  Lady Diana (Knight Robe) is one of Adria and Umbria's newest Baby Knights!

Sire Sir Hanzel von Brandenburg, for his recent Knighting at the Crown War in Terra Neuve.  Sir Hanzel (Knight Bachelor) is one of Adria and Umbria's newest Baby Knights!

Drake Lytle, for his Tourney win in Sergeant's Shinai - this was his first Tourney.

Brian Smith, for his Tourney win in Sergeant's Renn - this was his first Tourney too!

Sir Tremain, for his Tourney win in Knight's Renn.

Medieval Menagerie, which is run by Baroness Lady Dame Diana Lockerby (Baby Knight!) and Viceroy Sire Waldham von Torsvon, is a fine place to purchase almost anything you need for your Medieval- Renaissance experience.

Alpha Far West Bookstore, which is run by Count Sir Roland of the Icelands (Baby Knight!), is a fine place to purchase incense, Tarot cards, books, and other Medieval and New Age items.

DUCAL WAR! The April Ducal Tourney will now be a Ducal War instead! The current Duke, Sir Iain Duncan Mackintosh, is stepping down, in favor of the winner of the Ducal War. This will be held over Saturday and Sunday, the 18th & 19th of April.  Currently, as of this printing, the Baroness Lady Dame Diana Lockerby (Baby Knight!) and Baron Lord Sir Angus MacAllister are the only contenders for the Crown of Umbria. We encourage all to participate in the war in combat and arts. Come on out, and support the Duchy, the Contenders and our Combatants and Artisans.

Clan Gathering will soon be upon us. It is scheduled for the 25th and 26th of April. Camp Verde will be the site for this event, which focuses on Celtic traditions. This event is open to all, with much entertainment and fun for all. There will be a Mundane camping area apart from period encampments, and there will be a prize for the best period encampment!

Tickets for a large 15' round pavilion are on sale now. This is a raffle, with the proceeds going back into the Duchy coffers, to help pay for more large-scale events. There are only 150 tickets in all, and these are only $10.00 each. Tickets will be sold until all tickets are gone, or the time of the drawing, which is at the end of the Clan Gathering event. DEMO ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

A Demo will be held on the 13th of April at Balsz Elementary School, located near 44th Street and McDowell.  For more information, please contact the Marquessa Lady Dame Francesca Kilshannig.

A Demo will be held on the 4th of May at Patterson Elementary School.  Please contact Baroness Lady Dame Diana Lockerby (Baby Knight!) for more information about this Demo.  You can reach her at 946-4146, or speak to her personally.

A Demo will be held on the 5th of May at Tumbleweed Elementary School, which is located next to Cactus Park (site of the Ducal Tourneys).  This will be during the day, and all forms of Renaissance life are for show!  Come for combat or come to show your arts, join us in reaching out to these kids and the community, to show our educational abilities. DEMO ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

On the 7th of May (Thursday), there will be a Demo at Agua Fria High School in Avondale, at approximately 7 p.m. If you are able to attend and would like further information, please contact Squire Willow McLeod (Heather Wells) at 535-1316. Use her mundane name, as her parents may not know who Willow is.

A Demo will be held on the 8th of May at a local Elementary School.  This event is planned to be a Joint Adrian/ECS/Avalon Demo.  For further details, contact Sir Duriel Caliban von Hansard.

Membership Dues are due soon for....

This section is to announce to the Populace the memberships that are due for continuing the fine Adrian experience. All dues expire on the 1st of the month. While you do have a 30-day grace period, please get with the Ducal Steward, Skye O'Malley, and renew promptly!
